We Need to Talk About The LinkedIn Machine Learning Assessment.


I recently took the LinkedIn Machine Learning Assessment. In this video I explain why an assessment like this from a big company like LinkedIn is a major problem.


First, I don't think you can properly assess machine learning aptitude in 15 questions at 1 minute and 30 seconds for each question.


What purpose does this assessment really serve? It doesn't help an applicant show anything meaningful about their machine learning skills. It doesn't help recruiters or hiring managers help evaluate talent. If anything, this just floods the market with another useless certification.


I think that LinkedIn should either abandon this all together, or make it something that they use as part of their hiring criteria. This is what google did with their google analytics certification and it gained massive popularity and credibility.
